Working @ Shell House

So
my first day of work as an admin asst @ Shell House has begun. I’m in
the oil trading department helping out 1 of the trading ops personnel
with her admin hell load. It’s really alot of crap from what I observe.
As usual, never ending emails and constant updating of shipment
details. Like finding out where in the world has the shipment gone to
and blah blah.

Yup, and I’m supposed to help out with dat. But
I’ve not done any work for the first day. The moment I stepped into the
office @ 8am, I was informed that my supervisor only report for work at
8:30. "-_-

That was only the beinning of worse things to come.
When my supervisor greeted me, she told me that I can’t do anything for
the moment coz the IT department has yet to create my acct for
accessing their system. I also do not have a CPU by my desk coz all
staff are issued with laptops. I waited from 8am to 12pm without doin
work. Finally my work station has been set up but my acct has not been
created so I’ve been tasked to relax and surf net with my station till
5pm. I felt like telling her that I’ll like to go home instead of
sitting in the office even if it means I don get paid.

Anyway,
I’ve learned abit about the term, "Oil trading" My office setting is
exactly like a stock brokerage firm except that we’re dealing with
bidding for oil instead of stocks. They sound exactly like stock
brokers. The way they talk and the way they do work. They stare at the
monitor for 80% of the time… Considering the commission they earn,
I’ll say it’s a great job.

Anyway, I’m only working on a temp
basis and I dun tink they have the intention of hiring me for the long
term. So far it’s the best choice I have since it pays rather well for
a temp job and it’s near my sch and home. Can’t complain much even if
the work is crappy.

PS: The gd thing is I dun hv to keep a look out for prices and act like a mad man when there’s any changes.
