Now u hear dat? Can u see dat I’m glowing with freedom with each passing day? My turn to get outta NS is coming closer. Exactly 1 month at the time of writing. So many things to look forward to when I ORD.
1st thing on my list is to find a job that pays well and has good learning opportunities. The impt thing is that it can pass off my savings and protection plans at the moment at least for 6 months then maybe I’ll look somewhere else to widen my knowledge. To me, the most impt thing abt working aint the pay (not when you’re jus a fresh guy outta NS) but rather the chance to learn more things and be an asset to the company. Coz when you know u’re an asset to the company, no matter wat an asshole u are, you’ll stil in ur job coz nobody can replace u at least in a span of 1 month. Being an asshole is an pain in the ass. But being an asshole that’s irreplacable is quite fun coz u’re causing pain to others and yet they cant get rid of u.
After the problem of job finding is over, next will be to look into investments options. I’ve been reading some self help financial books and came to a conclusion that the sensible way to being rich aint setting up a business selling funky shit coz basically, alot of ppl do set up businesses selling lotza funky shit and fail 95% of the time. So why the hell should I risk my ass for that 5% of success??? It aint logical. Furthermore, I’m not dat adventurous to venture my money into the unknown. I do have my parents to look after and if anything were to happen to me, wat r my parents gonna do? Eat grass? Well, it has yet to be seen.
So I shall take the so called $100,000 challenge to protect myself against shitty issues like inflation, recession and retrenchment. I mean these r real issues we cant run away since we’re in Singapore. Look around us, our neighbours can work 3 times lesser for the same amount of work. Heck, u just pay them 50% more and they can even work twice as much. U look at singaporeans now, telling them to work on saturdays is like telling them to slice off their arm. Or telling them to attend courses after office hours is a great sin to their gf/bf/spouses.
Singaporeans stil tink that life for them is supposed to b good and easy. Can buy cars and houses with the thinking that their salary and CPF is able to pay for the costly car loans and house loans. Tell me about being practical. I aint gonna be like them. Buying a car is only when you have real hard and cold cash in your bank then you buy a car. Not when u feel like you want a car just because you want it. So when you have no money can you ask the car to spare u some cash? We all wish we could but dat damn car is just gonna look at us when it’s being towed away coz u’re going bankrupt.
So to all my frens reading this thing, tink about ur life seriously. Not only tink of how to excel in your job but also to make your money work for you. Tink of bonds, unit trust, equities and stocks. You need to read up on those shit to really make your money work for you. But an advise to u, do make sure you have at least $100,000 in ur bank b4 going into stocks, you gotta make sure that when you lose money, u stil $100,000 as reserve. The book I’m reading now actually says that this $100,000 aint for buying cars and houses. But rather, to safe-guard you ass when you’re jobless, down with major illness or when your parents r down with illness. So be real and get real.
